She nods and greeting to Elandowyn and settles down into her seat.
"No more dangerous than usual, I reckon. I'm from Braeloch originally, though. Not too far away. I just came from there actually. I was on my way to the Vleyborian shrine but I thought I'd compose myself first."
"And you?"

Marcas' expression suddenly grows much harder, any humor gone in an instant. "Been in the area my whole life, I am kin to Baron McGowan. I have bled for this place, lost friends and family to it's defense, but somehow I'm still here." He stares down into his tankard for a few seconds before taking a very long drink. "It pains me to see the work of good people squandered, that's why I'm still fighting."

Saffron lets Marcas talk and then takes a deep breath. "Sounds rough. At least you have the will to keep fighting. That's what it's all about." She reaches inside her robe and pulls out the Crowan Holy symbol. "I know about that."
She sips her water and glances down at the sheet of paper again.

"Always a joy to meet another who follower of the Lady of Battle" Marcas fishes his own symbol out from inside his tabard. "What's that paper you have there?"

She nods to him, acknowledging the holy symbol. "Indeedy it is."
"Oh this? This is why its been such a wonderful day." She passes the piece of paper across to Marcas.

"Well, congratulations, may I buy you drink to celebrate?" Gesturing to the bar as he passes the paper back.

She takes the paper and bites her lip. "Hm, sure, if you don't mind. I'll have whatever you think I should try. It's been a while since I had anything especially nice."
"So I know you're a Crowan, and a Knight, and that you're from Clydesdale. What are you working on at the moment? It's kind of hard to pick a direction at the moment. I was thinking about becoming an adventurer."

Elandowyn perks up with curiousity as she sees Marcas speaking to a young girl and indicating she should join them. "Pleased to meet you she replies with a smile as she is introduced.
As Saffron speaks of Braeloch Ellen asks "Braeloch I've never been too though I've heard it is quite rough there, is that the case?"

"Oh," Saffron says, "It didn't used to be. But yes, it's a pretty tough place to live these days." For the first time there's a little crack in her generally happy exterior. "Now that the Baronet's gone, though, I'm hoping it'll get to be a bit nicer. With a new lord it might be better."

Marcas calls over the barman, "Two flagons of your finest ale and wine for Elandowyn, please put it on the slate." Grumbling slightly the barmen disappears for a moment and then returns with the drinks. Maracas raises his tankard in a toast and drains half in a long pull. "At the moment, I am working towards ridding the area of the Githasian threat in Torrance, both Elandowyn and I have been working towards driving them out of Torrance for the past few months, in my case, longer I believe in Elandowyn's case." Marcas nods towards the holy symbol hanging around Saffron's neck, "The adventuring community can always use another good sword."

((OOC stupid phone not alerting to new posts since started typing))
"Praise be the Seven" Elandowyn answers lifting her symbol from among her robes"I am a Priestess of Lady Tralda. As for me I have for almost as long as I can remember been living right here in Barra. I run the orphanage here and also practice the physicians art to some degree. I too am an adventurer."

"Wow," She says, leaning forward on the table. "I hadn't heard about Githasians being around here. But then you don't hear much of anything when you're a slave."
"Do you get to, yanno, like actually win sometimes? Do you sometimes sit and think 'Gosh, I actually saved all those people?' Because I tried being militia and I just felt like I was sitting around hardly making any sort of difference at all."

"Sometimes you get a win, but sometimes it feels as if you're trying to push water uphill. There's almost always something, if it's not another nation invading it's heretics, if it's not foulspawn, then some demented git has starting raising illegal undead. It never rains, it pours, but that makes the rewards and the times you do win, all the sweeter."
Marcas' face suddenly drops.
"At other times it can be the most harrowing and heartbreaking thing I have experienced."

"It's all about small victories. A river doesn't change it's course over night but over time. Yes there is often more to do and some days you miss an opertunity or find you've had a small set back." She has a slightly darker expression now "sometimes you lose in a way you didn't expect too. Sometimes companions die. Sometimes the enemy comes looking for you." She looks distant for a moment before continuing in a slightly brighter tone. "But the little victories become bigger victories and soon triumphs. And you do remember the people you saved, you remember too those that were lost. Adventurering is both a blessing and a curse in that sense but worth it."

"Very eloquently put Elandowyn." Marcas starts to nod in agreement, his expression immensely sad.
